This Healthcare Support Programme is funded by South West Gno Skillnet through Skillnet Irelands Skills Connect initiative. We can offer full financial support to those who are unemployed and seeking to increase their employment prospects through relevant training. The QQI Healthcare Support Major Award is designed to give those wishing to work in the healthcare system a thorough grounding in the necessary skills. The course is relevant and highly practical, with each module focusing on a specific area of care. Successful completion of this course provides a recognised qualification necessary for working as a health care assistant in a variety of settings. It also enables the learner to progress to further and or higher education and training.
The first 2 modules that you need to start work in healthcare are

QQI level 5 Care skills

You will need good understanding of English,
PPS (or in process of getting it )

Course continuation:
You can start work with these 2 modules
However, to become a fully qualified Healthcare Assistant you need to complete 8 modules to get your Major Award (Fully qualified healthcare assistant)
We run 2 modules a month.
The QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support Major Award is made up of 8 components (5 mandatory and 3 elective) and each carries a value of 15 credits, giving a total of 120 credits for the full award

• Care Support (5N0758)
• Safety and Health at Work (5N1794)
• Work Experience (5N1356)
• Communications (5N0690)
Elective Components: – 30 Credits
• Infection Prevention & Control (5N3734)
• Palliative Care Support (5N3769)
• Care of the Older Person (5N2706)
With all of the above modules completed along with the work placement, the employability of the learner will increase significantly. In line with member company demand and addressing the skills shortage highlighted by Ireland’s National Skills Strategy 2025, SWG Skillnet has been delivering this highly successful programme for the last six years with solid conversion opportunities for those who completed same.
